Căphāreus or Căphēreus (trisyl.), ei, m., = Kaphareus, a rocky promontory on the southern coast of Eubœa, where the homeward-bound fleet of the Greeks was wrecked, being misled by Nauplius, king of the island, and father of Palamedes, who had been slain before Troy; now Capo del Oro, or Xylofago, Serv. ad Verg.
